• maintain pins instead of taking immediately
• Control and move toward the centre
• Castle early, but not ASAP
• Take more available trades
• Develop your pieces to more aggressive squares

Advance

• Make an escape square for the king once developed
• rooks belong behind passed pawns
• Know all the basic checkmates
• Expand the centre early with pawns in order to gain space

Always bring the rooks to the middle
